Abstract
This study intends to assess the impact of the Communicative Approach on learners’ fluency, accuracy and confidence in using English, along with their perceptions towards language learning through communicative activities while providing recommendations to other English language instructors for the effective integration of this approach in classroom lessons. It is constructivist and qualitative in nature and adopts the strategy of action research. Ten grade 10 students from ABC school were chosen based on purposive sampling. The data collection methods included structured interviews which were carried out at the termination of the tailored implementation plan over one month. The main findings of this study suggest that the Communicative Approach promotes a supportive learning environment while asserting the enhancement of a learner’s communicative skills in terms of natural speech and lexical development. It also presents the advancement of critical thinking skills and the awareness of the practical usage of target language in both academic and professional contexts.
